Barbados Companies Participating in UNCTAD 15 Conference Virtual Exhibition


A number of local entities will receive international exposure on the virtual platform on which the UNCTAD 15 Conference will be hosted.

The site will replicate a conference atmosphere, with an exhibition hall which will feature 10 booths at which the goods and services of the Barbadian companies will be displayed.

The platform allows for one-on-one interaction between corporate representatives and prospective clients through a chat function.

The entities which will be occupying the booths are:

Barbados Coalition of Service Industries

The Barbados Coalition of Service Industries (BCSI) is the sole business support organization in Barbados which is dedicated to representing the interests of the service providers and the services sector. It is a membership-based organization composed of a range of stakeholders operating in and related to the services sector. It is a business support organization dedicated to the acceleration of service sector development and the enhancement of the export potential of service providers in Barbados.

Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association

The Barbados Hotel and Tourism Association (BHTA) is a not-for-profit private sector trade association and one of the largest non-governmental associations in Barbados. They serve the interests of a diverse membership of over 300 tourism and non-tourism entities, both local and international.

Although BHTA represents over 80% of the total accommodation room stock of the island, over 60% of their membership base consists of non-accommodation entities, including activities and attractions, airlines, restaurants, real estate agents, tour representatives, retailers, local and international trade and consumer press, advertising and public relations agencies, technology providers, consultants, and suppliers of goods and services, cruise service providers and tourism students.

Barbados Museum & Historical Society

The Barbados Museum & Historical Society (BMHS) is a UNESCO World Heritage Property which reveals the island’s rich history, culture and heritage with a collection of over 500,000 artifacts. Located on the compounds of a former 19th century military prison, it is regarded as the Home of Barbadian Heritage and Culture.

Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc.

The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) functions are to promote, assist and facilitate the efficient development of tourism; to design and implement suitable marketing strategies for the effective promotion of the tourism industry; to make provision for adequate and suitable air and sea passenger transport services to and from Barbados; to encourage the establishment of amenities and facilities necessary for the proper enjoyment of Barbados as a tourist destination; to carry out market intelligence in order to inform the needs of the tourism industry.

Caribbean Export Development Agency

Caribbean Export is the only regional trade and investment promotion agency in the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) group. Established in 1996 by an Inter-Governmental Agreement as the regional trade and investment promotion agency, we serve the 15 States of the Caribbean Forum (CARIFORUM), namely: Antigua and Barbuda, The Bahamas, Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Haiti, Grenada, Guyana, Jamaica, Saint Lucia, St. Kitts and Nevis, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, and Trinidad and Tobago.

Invest Barbados (IB) is an economic development agency of the Government of Barbados. It is responsible for attracting, winning and sustaining international investment for Barbados. The corporation is also responsible for helping to develop and manage the Barbados international business brand. Invest Barbados is the national investment promotion agency of the Government of Barbados.

Intimate Hotels of Barbados

The Intimate Hotels of Barbados (IHB) is also known as “The Small Hotels of Barbados”. It is a non-profit company formed under the umbrella of the Barbados Hotel & Tourism Association (BHTA) in February 2000.

Its goal is to bring together small, independent, indigenously owned hotels and apartments in a cooperative environment in order to effect sustainable growth in product and service quality through the facilitation of marketing and management services.

The company represents over 45 hotels, apartment hotels, guesthouses and villas located all around the island of Barbados.

National Cultural Foundation of Barbados

The National Cultural Foundation (NCF) is a statutory body established by an Act of Parliament in 1983. Its mandate is to oversee the cultural landscape of Barbados. The NCF’s role revolves around the preservation of our cultural heritage and promotion of all forms of art and culture, both tangible and intangible through developmental and commercial programmes and products. The functional spectrum ranges from, generating cultural awareness at the grassroots level to promoting cultural exchanges at an international level. In its developmental role, the Foundation uses culture as a tool for national development, fostering and supporting the various art forms and new cultural products. In its commercial role, the Foundation is responsible for the promotion, production and hosting of cultural festivals and associated events.

West Indies Rum and Spirits Producers’ Association Inc. (WIRSPA)

WIRSPA is an umbrella association, representing distillers’ associations from across the ACP Caribbean. With a Secretariat located in Barbados, WIRSPA’s primary role is to represent the interests of its member associations and in turn their member companies and promote the development of Caribbean rum as a premium category.
